Dear Fellow Members,
What a full and enjoyable month May turned out to be! From the Fishing Derby and Youth Service Awards to horse racing and the Memorial Day Parade, there was no shortage of ac-tivity. I will also have the pleasure, along with several of our Officers, of attending the Con-necticut State Elks Convention during the final weekend of the month.
You may also notice new lighting and other improvements throughout the Lodge that hap-pened this May. We recently had an Energy Audit and update completed by Eversource. We received new lighting fixtures, light bulbs, switches, insulation and many other upgrades that should help with our electric bills going forward! We are also doing some repairs to the main kitchen freezer, and the wifi in the building. There is always something needing to be repaired or replaced!
Our community donations are continuing! In May we collected picnic paper goods for the Rocky Hill Veteran’s Home, and we also made a $500 donation to Torrington’s Salvation Army.
June is already off to a wonderful start with our Class Night scheduled for the 1st, where we will welcome six new members into our lodge. As the season continues, we look forward to even more outdoor events and gatherings. Be sure to check the Journal and our Facebook page to stay up to date on everything coming up.
For those who enjoy music and fresh air, the Coe Park Summer Concert Series will be held on Friday evenings throughout June. Stop by the Members’ Lounge, pick up a beverage, and relax on the front porch while enjoying the performances.
Wishing all fathers a very Happy Father’s Day!
Fraternally,
ER Sarah Lloyd
